Wednesday Warm-up: A Penny for your thought

In our ELAR and Math classes, we are learning that money is important. We will have a warm-up on

identifying U.S. coins TEKS ELAR 6.A and 6.B and Social Studies 4.

6) Response skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts. The student responds to an increasingly challenging variety of sources that are read, heard, or viewed. The student is expected to: (A) describe personal connections to a variety of sources; (B) provide an oral, pictorial, or written response to a text;

(4) Number and operations. The student applies mathematical process standards to identify coins in order to recognize the need for monetary transactions. The student is expected to identify U.S. coins by name, including pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.

In this warm up, we will draw in our journal four quarters, three dimes, two nickels, and a penny. Then we will illustrate the things we can buy with the amount of money we have.
